Tennessee employers must comply with these state rules regarding nursing in the workplace.
Mothers have the right to breastfeed their babies in any location, public or private, where the mother and child are otherwise authorized to be.
Employers must provide reasonable unpaid breaks to employees who need to express breast milk for their infants. The break, if possible, should run concurrently with any break time already provided.
Employers should make reasonable efforts to provide a room, other than a toilet stall, where employees may express milk in privacy.
