Nebraska Rules for Employing Minors

Employers in Nebraska must conform with these state rules relating to the employment of minors.

In Nebraska, a child under 16 years of age may not be employed in any employment unless the employer procures and keeps an employment certificate on file.

If a child is under 14 years of age, an employment certificate may be issued only for employment in connection with an employment program supervised and sponsored by the school or school district the child attends, and the program has been approved by the State Department of Education.
