Missouri Rules for Employing Minors

Employers in Missouri must conform with these state rules relating to the employment of minors.

In Missouri, work certificates permit the employment of minors between 14 and 16 years of age:

• during nonschool hours during the school term; or
• who are excused from attendance at school by law.

Parental consent is required before a work certificate may be issued.
